3 Reasons Why every Home Business should invest in a Website

Bill gates internet quote

Do you want to kick start your Home Business?

You have started your business but struggling to grow or market it, or would like to your own business but do not know where to start.

I started my own business fully excited but was soon burnt out and stagnant.  Have to tell you that approaching network marketing business a secret agent while relying on family and friends alone does not bode well in business.

Failure was not an option for me and soon realised that I needed a smart strategy and to broaden my horizons.

Researching options available led me capitalise on online exposure the decision to build a website was born.  This would be the hub of all social media tools available and can choose to implement like Facebook, Pinterest etc.

The internet has grown massively and there are currently more than 3 billion users.  It is a place most people use when they are looking for information, products or services and if you do not have an online presence then it will be your competitors that people will find.

Someone made an analogy that resonated with me, I cannot remember where I read this  but it was something in the lines of thinking about your website as your Online Real Estate.  You are not limited to one website you can build up a portfolio of online real estate with different niches and hundreds of opportunities
There are a number of reasons why a website is a must if you want to expand your business but the 3 below are my favourites.

1.    Credibility

Businesses with offices have credibility.

I personally like to checkout products or services before I buy and my first port of call is, you guessed it, the internet.  Having online presence shows that you are real and your readers can have access to the information,  products or services 24/7 and you can build relationships that are not only limited to online.  It is also a good way to communicate with your customer and deliver value that they require.

You can update your customers on any new products, promotions or any new content available in a central place. You will also gain potential customers if you do have a presence on line.

2.    Cost effective

A website is cost effective

Having a website leverages your time and money.

You create your content once and just have to keep updating when required and because this is in a central place you save time by avoiding repetitions.

Creating a website is easier and cheaper that you think. There are companies that offer to build your website for you or you can do it yourself and have fun while doing it.  I took the latter option as I like to learn and it is the best decision I ever made.

While researching l came across the best platform Wealthy Affiliate and loved the fact that you can create a starter account absolutely free of charge without requiring your credit card to try it out.  Your can literally build a website in second.

I also discovered other Ways to make money online and build a laptop style business.

3.  Branding

Now this is a biggie perhaps it should be the number one.

Unless you are Christopher Columbus, there are likely to be hundreds of businesses that are already in your niche market and you need to stand out.

Branding yourself online enables you to add your own spin, shine and stand up from the crowd and personalize your business.  If your online branding is done correctly then you have the potential to become the competitor.

Once again there is a lot of information and resources available.  I utilised the Ultimate Branding Blue Print to build my blog

You are probably thinking that you can do that on Facebook, Instagram google plus and all others but you do not have much control of these platforms.

For example when you are put in Facebook jail you will not have access to your content during this period. Worst case scenario is you get booted and you lose all your content.  There is a thought, I wonder if you get to collect your stuff when you get evicted off these sites.

I went and googled after this thought and here is what I found Here is an excerpt from someone who had an experience of this  “ Losing my archive of memories, my messages, my photos, my groups, my Pages, my Events, anything I actually RELY on Facebook for though is infuriating. There’s no way to get this information out of Facebook once your account has been disabled, it’s all ‘gone’”

I am not saying that these are not a good Idea, I have a Facebook account myself and other social media accounts that are leading and powerful but your website needs to be your HUB

Upon reading your article, which is very informative by the way, I was amazed to find out that if your facebook membership is closed or disabled for any reason then you lose all your content.
This is something I think many facebook members do not realize and this fact should be shouted from the rooftops.
I am now looking for a way to archive my facebook material just in case!
As for the rest of your article, it is very clear and concise and I heartily agree with you regarding the Wealthy Affiliate platform which IMHO is the best in the world.
I also agree about branding, it indeed should be the number one consideration when building your website. Nice clean site and easy to read. Good post. Ches

You’re totally right, every serious business needs a website, as this way it reaches so much farther than without a website. Also, a website can be accessed from anywhere and at any time, making your business being opened 24/7. Also your customer base extends to.. the world. Anyone can notice you from any corner in the world, and that’s awesome.

If I may add, I think a website will enable you to reach out to more audience using content and social marketing. Website is very different from a webpage. When you grow your business, your website content expands as well.

This helps you get indexed and be found on the search engines. With that, you’ll get more traffic (aka customers) to your business.

I think if businesses aren’t on the internet already, they are missing out on huge opportunities for customers and sales. With the rate at which the online world is expanding, it’s really a no-brainer for companies to follow the crowd and go to where the attention is.

Bill Gates is most certainly right with his quote!

From the 3 very important reasons you’ve outlined, I can see why a business owner needs a site. Especially when it comes to leveraging time and money. Having a website running 24/7 is the smart way to do business. 🙂
